Richard Benitez III: A Bay Area Love Story
Richard Benitez III brings his project A Bay Area Love Story to Black Cat. Growing up immersed in the music of San Francisco and Oakland’s streets, Richard picked up the trumpet at age 7 and has since built a career rooted in improvised music. He performs regularly alongside Bay Area legends and ensembles including Souls of Mischief, Goapele, P-Lo, Ruby Ibarra, Steve Turre, Faye Carol, and Marcus Shelby, as well as internationally recognized artists such as Jill Scott and J Dilla collaborators. Doors open at 6:00 PM with the show starting at 7:00 PM.
