This Privacy Policy explains how SFGuide (“we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website at sfguide.co, our iOS app, our Android app, and any related services (collectively, the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in with Apple or Google, we receive your name and email address from the provider you choose. We use Firebase Authentication to manage sign-in. We store an opaque session token on your device so you stay signed in.
Saved Items and Custom Tours
When you bookmark a place or create a custom tour, we store that information on our servers tied to your account so it syncs across your devices. You can delete this data at any time by removing bookmarks or signing out and requesting account deletion.
Location Information
The SFGuide app can use your device’s location only when you tap features like “Near Me.” We use this location locally on your device to show nearby places. We do not transmit, store, or share your precise location. You can deny or revoke location permission at any time in your device settings without losing access to the rest of the app.
Usage and Diagnostic Data
We use Firebase Crashlytics to receive automatic reports when the app crashes. These reports include the type of error, your device model, operating system version, and the email address tied to your SFGuide account so we can follow up if needed. We do not collect general analytics or behavior tracking.
Cookies and Local Storage
Our website uses standard cookies for session management. Our apps store data locally on your device, including a cached copy of guide content (when you enable “Make Available Offline”), your saved items, and your sign-in token. This data stays on your device unless syncing requires sending it to our servers.
How We Use Your Information
- To authenticate you and keep your account secure
- To sync your saved items and custom tours across your devices
- To deliver the content of the Service to you
- To diagnose and fix crashes or bugs
- To respond to your support requests
We do not sell your personal information. We do not share it with advertisers. We do not use it for advertising or behavioral profiling.
Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third-party services to operate the Service. Each has its own privacy practices:
- Apple Sign-In and Google Sign-In — for authentication. Subject to Apple and Google’s privacy policies.
- Firebase (Google) — for authentication, crash reporting. Subject to Firebase Privacy Policy.
- Google Maps — for displaying maps in the app. Subject to Google Privacy Policy.

Data Retention
We keep your account information and saved data as long as your account is active. Crash reports are retained per Firebase’s default policy (typically up to 90 days). When you delete your account, we delete your saved items and custom tours from our servers within 30 days.
Your Rights
You can:
- Sign out of the app at any time, which removes your session token from your device
- Remove individual saved items or custom tours from within the app
- Revoke location permission in your device’s system settings
- Request a copy or deletion of your data by emailing us at the address below
If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, or California, you may have additional rights under GDPR or CCPA, including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your personal data, and the right to object to certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.
Children’s Privacy
The Service is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If we learn we have collected data from a child under 13, we will delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email.
