Art & Exhibitions Patch Bay: Translating Living Systems into Robotics and Music Workshop
Artists Scott Kildall and Kal Spelletich lead this ideas based workshop at Gray Area, introducing their practices in bio art and performance. Both use natural intelligence to drive their outputs. Spelletich builds robotic sound machines powered by plants, and Kildall creates ambient soundscapes from fungi, bacteria, mycelium and more. The workshop explores how biological signals can be translated into robotic movement and synthesized sound. Kildall and Spelletich will show how they sense biological activity, harvest data, build and hack electronics, prototype ideas, and transform invisible signals into sound. The two artists are collaborating on the session and bring more than 50 years of combined experience in experimental art and technology.
