SB 79 Took Effect July 1: Taller Housing Is Now Allowed Near San Francisco Transit Stops
SB 79, the state law that allows higher-density housing within about half a mile of major transit stops, took effect in San Francisco on July 1, 2026. It applies in eight counties and includes affordability requirements.
