The Golden Gate Theatre opened in 1922 at 1 Taylor Street as a vaudeville house and later movie theater. Now a BroadwaySF venue, it programs touring Broadway productions through the season. Capacity is 2,297 across the orchestra, mezzanine, and balcony. The auditorium has been restored to its original Spanish-Moorish detailing.
