San Francisco Ballet is the oldest professional ballet company in the United States, founded in 1933. The company performs at the War Memorial Opera House on Van Ness Avenue from January through May, with a Nutcracker run every December. Helgi Tomasson led the company from 1985 until 2022; Tamara Rojo is the current artistic director.
